A New Year
The changing numbers on our years are an excuse for reflection, rethinking the way we’ve done things in the past…the past year and dealing anew with changes over which we have no control.
The pandemic has a lot to answer for, negatively but also positively. I found that getting away from my knitting machine and felting table lead me to ‘slow stitching’ and embroidery. I used to embroider in my teens and twenties but I had endless time then…well I had endless time again. I knit a lot of socks in the evenings in front of the television or listening to an audio book. A friend, at the first show of 2021 called the socks Knitflix sox!
With a studio full of yarn and fabrics, embroidery threads, vintage linens and other raw materials I look forward to doing more stitching, especially work for our Art Threads show this coming April. I’ve had so much inspiration since being invited to join the Kingston Fibre Artists, seven years ago, experiencing the fabulous work of my colleagues, also their help, tutelage and challenge.
Happy New Year.
